The END
Hi All,
My favorite was librarything and delicious. This was an eye-opening experience for learning something online. Most of the exercises were doable, but as you can see from my blog the last two I was not able to do part of the assignment. This was very disheartening. Improvements would include more step-by-step, less figuring out what to do. We all have our interests, but it would be nice to have a starting point and more direction on how to accomplish each task. I learned a great deal about what is available on the web and can see some use for the tools in the library. I would choose to participate again. I hope I can find some assistance on the Podcast assignment, than I can say I have made it through SPL 2.0.

Librivox
Hi,
Well Librivox is right up there with Podcasts, very confusing and hard to download the New Releases Podcast and so forth. I really would need more time to figure out what to do on this site. It is hard to know if we use ogg vorbis to download. This was very confusing.

Podcasts
Hi, this was a frustrating ordeal and I still have not been able to subscribe to an RSS Feed, because I cannot get any podcast to work. I am so close to being done with this training that this is very troubling. I have tried every option and still I cannot get anything to play, much less subscribe to.

Podcasts
The directories are asking for a Windows Media Player download. Is this okay to download? The podcast I was interested in will not download. Any suggestions? Do these take time to download? This is frustrating.
Smithsonian Global Sound
Hi Everybody,
Wow! Even on the lowest volume setting the music was crystal clear. Ear Buds from Staff Day? Where did I stash those? I chose one of the quickest songs to play. This would certainly make my assignments go faster, because when I was in school, the radio was always blasting when I did my homework. Music has always been a stress reliever for me (snowy roads, long commutes, and housework). Thanks for adding this to our library catalog.

Web 2.0 Tools
Hi,
I checked out the personal organization category. Of the three top choices, I really liked voo2do. It gave me a sample of what the calendar and notes looked like. I am a visual person, so this helped a lot. http://voo2do.com/. Enjoy exploring this.

Wiki
The Stevens County wiki was developed by the library, but I did not see a direct link to their website. SJCPL looks like it is easy to use and informative. The other wikis were informative. As far as SPL, it would be great to have current events within and outside of the library displayed. Staff input on books would be nice for display ideas and favorites. It will be nice to see what SPLASH could do for our Intranet.

Library 2.0
I found the article "To a Temporary Place in Time..." to be very informative about where libraries have been to where they need to go and expand. The comment I found most amusing was "Collecting librarians instead of books". I was stunned at the SecondLife statistic of time spent in this virtual world. If that isn't an indication of why stats are down, I don't know what is. For SPL, I think we need to start forming a virtual staff through book recommendations and websites we find useful. We all have different learning and reading goals.
Technorati
Technorati just wasn't appealing to me. I tried the lifehacker site and it wasn't what I thought it would be. Between delicious and this search tool, I will gladly choose delicious.

Delicious Feed
http://del.icio.us/rss/asileerol
The tutorial was very hard to play on my computer, so I had use a coworker's. That was really hard to try and try again. My experience with del.icio.us was very fun. I think I said something about Shakespeare in an earlier posting. With delicious, I was able to find an online free reader of all his plays and with Shakespeare on Google, it divided the plays into comedy, tragedy, etc. This was an easy tool to use, but posting to my blog was a little tedious. I tried to add the RSS to my bloglines account, but then I didn't know how to update the listing on my blog. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Search Roll

Well, it looks like I conquered another one. I seem to forget the last step which is check the box to make it public. These were some addresses from materials received at WALE conference. I hope you find some that are useful.

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!
Well I thought I had it conquered for my bloglines address, but apparently not.
Newsfeeds
Hi. Worked with some of the feeds. It was really hard if you didn't have a topic in mind to see what was out there. I tried Shakespeare and it really didn't give me what I wanted. I was able to add a new feed from topix., called Spokane News. I still have one more feed to find, so I will try later to see if I can find one more. I tried to work with the feeds I do have to see how they worked. I have ten entries in my feed, how do they go away? Is it after I look at them? It will be interesting to find out how these work.

Technology
Something about technology.
If it wasn't for SPL 2.0, I probably would not have started a blog. Sometimes I feel behind the times, because just last year, I got my first cell phone. I don't have it turned on. It just sits in my purse until I need to make a call. I walk and drive around town and I see all these people with phones attached to their ears and talking a mile a minute and for such a long time. I'm glad I don't have that phone bill. The ones that really get me is the earpiece. You are walking down the street and someone beside you says a greeting. Are you talking to me? Oh, cell phone. Well, that's all for today.

Montagr
Hi everyone,
Montagr the photo mosaic was fun to see how flickr picked out different colors. The trading card exercise was a bit beyond me, but willing to try again later.

Password Worries
Whew, logging in is hard work. Had to get support because too many passwords are running around in my head. Now that I have crossed that hurdle, I can continue working on this.

1st post on my new blog
Hello Spokane Library 2.0:
My first post was to choose the hardest and easiest habit for lifelong learning.
Making goals is easy for me:
-finish my first marathon (October 2006 61/2 hours)
-finish a quilt I started two years ago (December 2006)
-etc. etc.
The hardest thing is accepting responsibility for accomplishing my goals.
-not enough time
-too much to do
-not setting deadlines
I hope to
-learn about the MLS degree
-make it through SPL 2.0
